ARTIST STATEMENT BELOW PICTURE
Artist Statement Below Picture............
After a ten year hiatus I have returned to painting and to pursue my lifelong passion of creating. First, I owe a thank you to friends and family who have supported me in all ways through a serious illness, and some life changes, that robbed me of my creative energy. Many artists in all creative fields have had setbacks and comebacks, and it is the hope and the dream of our passion that sustains us to go forward. Oftentimes, the very medicine we most need.
The work you see on this website was primarily done ten years ago while I was a full time active student at Carnegie Mellon University. Being raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I loved using texture: metal, wood, and metallic colors, to express my devotion to the steelworkers, and the steeltown I proudly embrassed.
I have lived twenty years of my adult life in the South where my palette changed to brighter and more colorful subjects. The study of the human figure has always been a love of mine. I return to painting with a deeper understanding of the value of just being alive, the love and need of family, and the gifts God has given me. I will place my focus on Portraiture which should allow me to express these values.
In the near future I plan to show my new paintings. My style evokes the character of the person and can be done in either watercolor or oil. I welcome you to contact me for your commissioned portrait. Please visit my link: Planning a Portrait, and please return as the gallery will be updated with each painting.
